Project description:
"I need an experienced Flask developer to move the Harry Llama Scheduler from “promising prototype” to a working demo.
For the demo, I want solid user authentication built around the familiar username-and-password flow—hashed and salted storage, session management with Flask-Login (or an equivalent), and the usual defences against brute-force or CSRF issues. Once that foundation is watertight, I can layer on more advanced options later.
Performance is next. The app leans heavily on SQLAlchemy, and some of the daily coverage queries are dragging. I’d like you to profile those queries, rewrite or restructure them where needed, and leave the database running lean. If an index or a materialised view is the right fix, great—but the primary goal is measurable query optimisation.
Finally, the new front-end is ready for wiring. It presents an interactive grid that shows each day’s absence coverage; every cell should be editable in place and save instantly without a page refresh. You’ll expose the necessary REST or WebSocket endpoints, handle optimistic updates, and make sure conflicts are resolved gracefully.
Deliverables
• Create hardened authentication module with tests
• Optimised queries with before/after benchmarks
• Fully functional grid tied to the Flask back-end, including real-time saves
Ship clean, documented code." (client-provided description)
