"I have a Flutter app backed by Firebase and need real-time push notifications wired up so users are instantly alerted whenever another user sends a chat message or submits any type of request. The core flow is already in place—users can message and create requests—but there is currently no notification layer connecting the two parties.

Here’s what I need from you: configure Firebase Cloud Messaging for both Android and iOS, build the logic so that when a message or request event is fired the intended recipient receives a push notification—even if the app is in the background or terminated. A simple payload containing the sender’s name and a short preview of the content is enough for now; richer options like images or action buttons can remain flexible for future iterations.

I will provide access to the existing Flutter codebase, Firebase project, and Firestore collections that track messages and requests. You can choose whether to trigger FCM through Cloud Functions, a backend service, or directly from the client as long as the solution is scalable and complies with Firebase best practices.

Deliverables
• Updated Flutter code with FCM setup and foreground/background handlers
• Cloud Function (or equivalent) that listens for both `messages` and `requests` collection writes and dispatches the correct push payload
• A quick README or inline comments explaining any new configuration steps (APNs certificates, Android manifest changes, etc.)
• Proof the notification arrives on a physical device or emulator for both events
