"I’m setting up an online NBA 2K league and need a purpose-built database that keeps everything running smoothly from preseason to playoffs. You will design the data model, build the core logic, and expose clean endpoints so that my website and bot can pull standings, schedules, and full box-score style statistics without hiccups.

Key functions to cover:
• Standings that recalculate automatically whenever a game result is posted.
• A scheduler that lets me create the full season calendar, reschedule games, and later bolt on playoff brackets.
• Comprehensive stat tracking—both player and team numbers such as points, assists, rebounds, steals, turnovers, and shooting splits—plus easy reporting for social posts and power-rankings.

I’m flexible on stack choice; whether you lean SQL, NoSQL, or a hybrid, propose what will scale best for multiple seasons. The same goes for the API layer—REST or GraphQL are both on the table as long as the documentation is crystal-clear and the code is tidy.

Deliverables
1. Normalised (or equivalent) data schema and migration scripts
2. Core API endpoints with authentication stubbed in
3. Seed data and sample queries that demonstrate auto-updating standings and stat summaries
4. Setup guide and in-line comments so another developer can extend the system later
