Project description:
"I am building a compact, all-in-one controller board that can sit at the heart of an industrial IoT node. The PCB must interface with temperature probes and a 4-20 mA pressure loop while offering plenty of headroom—around 10 – 15 relay outputs at a minimum. Wi-Fi is mandatory, and I also want a hard-wired LAN port for secure commissioning in the field.

Full Linux support is non-negotiable; the board should be able to boot a mainstream distribution so I can run standard networking, MQTT and edge-processing stacks. Please factor in enough RAM/flash or the option to add eMMC/SD storage.

Beyond the fixed I/O, I’d like an expansion header or similar bus to plug in future modules (extra GPIO, analog inputs, CAN or RS-485, etc.). Clean, noise-aware routing for the mixed-signal sections—particularly the 4-20 mA pressure sensor input—is important because the controller will live inside a noisy plant room.

Ideal candidates have experience in embedded systems, IoT devices, and PCB design, and can provide practical recommendations for robust performance.

Deliverables
• Full schematic in a mainstream ECAD tool (KiCad, Altium or similar)
• Layer-stacked PCB layout ready for fabrication (Gerber/ODB++)
• Complete BOM with manufacturer part numbers and current lead-times
• Verified design files for the Linux bring-up: bootloader settings, device tree, and a sample rootfs that shows Wi-Fi, LAN and at least one relay toggling via GPIO
• Brief design report highlighting power-supply choices, protection, and thermal calculations

• The freelancer should also develop the embedded software for the PCB to:
Communicate with Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant
Be ready for integration with a mobile app for monitoring and control

The project includes producing a few working prototypes and providing complete documentation, including schematics, PCB layout files, firmware, and setup instructions. The ideal candidate has experience in IoT, embedded systems, home automation integration, and app connectivity, ensuring the final product is fully functional, tested, and ready for deployment.
