"I need a fully-featured, scalable video-sharing application built natively for both iOS and Android. The core flow is familiar—users create accounts, upload or record videos, and then browse, like/dislike, comment, and re-share content—but the build must comfortably accommodate heavy traffic and a rapidly growing media library. It should be a unique app, but share some common attributes similar to other popular video sharing apps.

Key interaction features
• Like/Dislike buttons and threaded comments that update in real time
• Easy in-app video sharing as well as deep-link sharing outside the app
• A recommendation engine that surfaces suggested videos, lets viewers sort by genre or what’s trending, and continually refines results as engagement data grows
• Flexible room for unique social features we may add during prototyping

Content expectations
Most uploads will fall in the 5–15-minute range, with occasional clips shorter than 5 minutes and some longer, so adaptive streaming and efficient transcoding are vital. Storage and delivery should scale—think S3-style object storage plus a CDN—to handle large files without bottlenecks.

Technical objectives
• Robust user auth (email, phone, or social) with secure token management
• Cloud-based, horizontally scalable backend capable of serving thousands of concurrent users
• Clean, modern UI/UX that feels at home on both platforms, created in Figma or a similar tool before development begins
• Native code in Swift and Kotlin or a high-performance cross-platform framework such as Flutter or React Native—open to whichever route yields the best user experience and maintainability
• Analytics hooks so we can monitor churn, watch time, retention, and other KPIs from day one
