"I need to tweak an existing Maven plugin that currently grabs the most recent .zip from our FTP server purely by timestamp. The correct behaviour is different: the plugin should consult an XML file that lives alongside the plugin configuration in the project and pull exactly the zip name specified there.

My plan is to jump on a screens-share so you can see the build setup, the FTP structure and the XML format. From there I’d like you to refactor the selection logic—no new plugin, just extend the current one—so the build:

• reads the XML once per run,
• identifies the required zip, and
• downloads only that file, falling back gracefully if it is missing.

The rest of the plugin works fine; we just need this targeting logic replaced. The codebase is pure Java 11, Maven 3.9.x, with commons-net handling FTP.
