Time to start: As soon as possible
Project description:
"I need an Android application that lets investors open the app, log in with their email, and instantly see two key things about each mutual-fund holding: the current value and their complete investment history (purchase dates, amounts, and units). No other user-facing analytics are required right now, but the code should stay modular so performance charts can be added later without a rewrite.
Behind the scenes I must be able to administer everything from a lightweight web panel. From there I’ll create and disable user accounts, edit basic profile details, and push portfolio updates (new transactions, price refreshes, corporate-action adjustments, etc.). Analytics and reporting aren’t in scope yet, so the database structure should be clean and well-documented to make future expansion straightforward.
Core flow
• User installs app → signs up or logs in via email/password
• Secure API call fetches the latest portfolio snapshot → renders current value and a scrollable timeline of historical investments
• Admin panel triggers manual or scheduled portfolio refreshes and handles all user CRUD operations
Essential requirements
• Written in Kotlin or Java following Android best practices (MVVM preferred)
• Clean, commented code and a README explaining environment variables, build steps, and how to add new funds/transactions
• REST or GraphQL backend with authenticated endpoints; open to Firebase, Supabase, or a lightweight Node/Express stack—propose what you’re comfortable with
• Role-based access so only admins reach the management panel
• Source files delivered via Git with one sensible commit history, plus a signed APK/Bundle for quick testing
Acceptance criteria
1. User can register, log in, log out, and reset password through email.
2. After login, current value and full transaction list load in under three seconds on a typical 4G connection.
3. Admin can add a new transaction and see it reflected in the mobile view after a refresh.
4. Codebase passes lint checks and builds without errors in Android Studio Arctic Fox or newer.
If this aligns with your skill set, tell me which backend stack you’d use and how long you’d need for an MVP that clears the four acceptance points above." (client-provided description)
