Project description:
"The contact page on my customer's website still runs a Perl 4 script. I need that code brought up to date—fully functional under Perl 5.30—without altering the site’s appearance or the way users interact with it. My priority is simple: once the migration is complete, the page must execute cleanly on a server running Perl 5.30, with no warnings and no deprecated syntax.
Since the script is old, I’m unsure which core or CPAN modules it may rely on. Therefore, part of the job will be to audit any use of libraries, replace or upgrade them as needed, and document the final dependency list. If you spot obvious security holes or inefficiencies while reviewing the code, I’d appreciate fixes, but ensuring compatibility comes first.
You’ll get SSH access to a staging copy of the site where you can run tests. The deliverable includes the updated .pl file (or files), an installation read-me that notes any module requirements, and a brief change log so I understand what changes were made. I’ll consider the work complete once the script runs on the staging box with Perl 5.30 and passes a round of live form submissions without errors." (client-provided description)
