Project description:
"design me a cell phone ios application that can be utilized by people that will track their locations when they turn it on while mowing a solar farm and generate a heat map of where they have been over the past month, 6 months, or year with the ability to overlay data from up to 10 mowers at one project site, then turns that raw data into beautiful, time-filtered heat maps. The core of the project is the heat-map generation itself; everything else exists to feed or display that result.
How the app should work
• CoreLocation runs in the background with a low-power configuration, and users can pause or resume recording whenever they wish.
• Data is stored locally with CoreData or SQLite; an optional iCloud toggle lets the user keep a private backup.
• From the stored points, the app must render smooth, color-graded heat layers that can be filtered to the last month, six months, or year. I have no hard preference between MapKit or Google Maps SDK—use whatever produces the best, most responsive overlay.
• A dashboard summarises distance travelled and most-visited spots, while a map screen allows pinch, pan, and zoom on the generated layers.
• Settings give fine-grained control over tracking frequency, retention, export (CSV or JSON), and a one-tap purge of all data. Clear onboarding text must explain permission use up-front, with zero silent data sharing.
Acceptance criteria
– Heat maps render in under one second on an iPhone 12 with 50k points.
– Battery impact remains minimal during an eight-hour passive tracking session.
– CSV/JSON exports open correctly in Numbers and a basic text editor.
– Deleting all data removes every trace locally and in iCloud (if enabled).
When you respond, please include past work that demonstrates similar geospatial or data-visualisation features. A quick note on your preferred mapping toolkit and any relevant performance tricks is welcome, but no lengthy proposal is needed at this stage." (client-provided description)
