Project description:
"I am refreshing a print-based Beijing travel magazine and need the core map rebuilt as a modern, multimedia guide. The new version has to live in two places: a print spread for the magazine and an online, fully clickable map that visitors can explore from their phones.
Scope
• Redraw a clean base map that covers the main historical sites, busy commercial districts, and notable residential pockets of Beijing.
• Geocode and label every featured point in both Chinese and English, observing local cartographic standards.
• Embed high-resolution photos for each location and set up lightweight interactive elements—hover pop-ups, clickable neighborhood filters, and a quick “plan my route” button.
• Provide a print-ready PDF (CMYK, 300 dpi) plus an online version built in Mapbox, Leaflet, or another browser-friendly framework you prefer.
Deliverables
1. Interactive web map packaged with all source files.
2. Print spread (double-page) ready for direct insertion into the magazine.
3. Folder of optimised photos and an implementation note so my editorial team can update content later.
Acceptance
The map must load smoothly on mobile within three seconds, display Chinese characters correctly, and keep visual coherence between the print and digital versions.
I’m looking for a cartographer currently based in China who knows Beijing’s layout first-hand and can start right away. Let me know which mapping platform you’re most comfortable with and show a sample of a city map you have produced that mixes photos and interactivity." (client-provided description)
