Project description:
"I need a custom Max for Live (.amxd) device that can pull a random MIDI file from a well-organised library—over ten thousand clips—then load it straight onto the currently armed Ableton Live track. Random selection is the top priority, and the browser must respect a folder hierarchy ordered by BPM/tempo so I can keep creative flow without digging through sub-folders.
Performance has to stay snappy even with very large collections, so the back-end will likely lean on JavaScript file-system calls and efficient caching. The finished interface should live in a single window with tidy tabs; no clutter, no extra pop-ups—just a clean, studio-ready look that feels native next to my existing Max devices.
The build needs to slot seamlessly into Ableton Live 11, cooperate with other Max for Live tools on my channel strips and expose a couple of parameters to automation (e.g., “Refresh Random Clip” and “Browse Folder”). Two years’ experience with Max object design and Live’s API is a must, as is a clear plan for handling, indexing and refreshing five-figure file counts without choking CPU or disk.
Deliverables
• Fully functional .amxd device file
• Brief setup & usage guide (PDF or Markdown)
• One-page troubleshooting / FAQ
Target turnaround is 2–3 weeks from project start. When you reply, please link to past Max for Live work and outline how you would manage large libraries while keeping load times minimal.
