"I need a complete TwinCAT solution on a Beckhoff PLC to run a small steam turbine package in an oil-and-gas setting. The brief is straightforward: create and validate the PLC logic, build the cascade-based PID strategy, and design a handful of TwinCAT HMI screens that operators can rely on in the field.

Control strategy
The turbine’s main governor loop must cascade through pressure and flow controllers, ultimately regulating shaft speed. Each loop needs full PID capability with auto/manual transfer, bumpless set-point changes, and tunable gains exposed on the HMI. Interlocks, permissives, and trip logic should be handled in the PLC layer so that the HMI remains a thin client.

HMI requirements
Screens have to present real-time data, accept operator inputs (set-points, mode changes, acknowledgements), and publish a clear alarm/notification banner with event history. I prefer the standard TwinCAT HMI framework, but if you normally deploy Visual Studio-based solutions that is fine—just keep everything inside the Beckhoff ecosystem so it loads seamlessly on a CX controller.

Integration notes
• PLC family: Beckhoff CX series running TwinCAT 3
• Fieldbus: EtherCAT I/O; you can assume standard Beckhoff EL series cards for pressure, flow, and speed feedback.
• Deliverables: complete TwinCAT project archive, compiled runtime files, and HMI screens ready to download; brief commissioning guide and a simple FAT test sequence showing the three loops holding set-points within acceptable error bands.
