Project description:
"Title: Android App Development: GSM from and to WebRTC Integration (Rooted Devices)
Objective:
Develop an Android application that integrates GSM calls with WebRTC, allowing seamless communication between cellular network calls and WebRTC calls within the same application, which means when gsm call is initiated tge freepbx rings and takes tge call, and when a call is initiated by freepbx / asterisk specified extension number and gsm number requested, the gsm mobile initiates the call and merge call.
Available Test Devices (Rooted):
Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android 4.3 – 4.4, Qualcomm/Exynos)
Samsung Galaxy S4 (Android 4.4 – 5.0, Qualcomm/Exynos)
Motorola device (specs available upon request)
Key Requirements:
1. Modify RIL
Implement a custom Radio Interface Layer (RIL) to manage GSM calls directly within the application.
Utilize oFono as a backend for RIL (Java-based).
2. Use JNI / Native Code
Integrate C/C++ code via JNI for low-level system access.
Ensure compatibility with Android telephony services.
3. Integrate with Asterisk / FreePBX
Configure Asterisk or FreePBX for SIP/WebRTC signaling.
Enable call merging, transfer, and termination between GSM and WebRTC calls.
Optional:
Projects can be modified from Siperb or Browserphone or any other project you have worken on before if relevant.
Challenges / Notes:
RIL modifications are device-specific; work only on rooted devices.
Audio bridging between GSM and WebRTC requires careful codec and echo handling.
Application stability and performance are crucial.
Only developers with prior experience in similar Android telephony/VoIP/WebRTC projects should propose and provide details of similer application create by.
Budget & Timeline:
Budget: $30
Timeline: 3 days for a working PoC on the available devices
Deliverables:
Android app running on the provided rooted devices.
Basic GSM from and to WebRTC call bridging proof-of-concept.
Integration with Asterisk/FreePBX SIP/WebRTC server.
Documentation for setup and supported devices" (client-provided description)
