"Good Day,

Unfortunately, the YouTube Shorts rabbit hole keeps distracting me every day and steals important time. I just can’t manage to avoid it. I have now realized that the program is stronger than my willpower, so it simply has to disappear. If you could help me with this, it would bring incredible value to my life. I just need help with the technical implementation.

Unhook (UnhookYT-Browser-Extention) already strips Shorts from my current YouTube layout, but the setting can be toggled off just as quickly and the algorithm still drags me back in. I need a solution that keeps Shorts hidden on this one PC no matter what—even after browser updates, profile resets, or an accidental click on “restore default settings.”

Your job is to give me a clean, reproducible way to disable or hide every trace of the Shorts feed on this machine only. I’m open to whichever route offers the greatest permanence, whether that’s a hardened browser extension, a user script locked with policy, a hosts-style block, or a small system-level tweak that suppresses the relevant endpoints. What matters is that I cannot easily revert it without deliberately undoing technical steps.

I would also like to keep the other restrictions on YouTube through UnhookYT, such as hiding the suggestions, etc. Ideally, I would like to continue using Unhook, but make it impossible to change the settings again.

Please provide:
• A step-by-step implementation guide tailored to my PC (I use firefox).
• Any custom code, policy files, or compiled extension needed, plus clear instructions for future updates if YouTube changes its structure.
• A quick test procedure so I can confirm Shorts are gone across fresh browser profiles.

I have been using a PC since I was a child and can navigate it well. I am not a programmer, but I am willing to learn and implement everything necessary for success if needed.
