"I need to move an existing COBOL program into a modern Spring Batch solution. The current job handles mixed transactional and batch data, processing somewhere in the 1 GB – 100 GB range on each run, so the new implementation must cope comfortably with medium-sized datasets while remaining restartable and scalable.

You will analyse the COBOL source, map the business logic, and deliver equivalent Spring Batch steps—preferably inside a small Spring Boot project for easy deployment. I expect clean Java code, reader/processor/writer components, relevant configurations (XML or Java-config), and a concise README that explains how to build and launch the job.

Please factor in:
• Accurate translation of all data transformations, validations, and control totals.
• Proper chunking, transaction management, and error-handling so jobs restart safely after failures.
• Performance testing with representative sample files (I can supply anonymised data).

Deliverables are the fully working Spring Batch project, unit tests covering critical paths, and migration notes that highlight any assumptions or deviations from the original COBOL logic.
