"Project Description
I have a Java-based network simulator that needs a thorough clean-up. The entire codebase should be reviewed, uniformly refactored for clarity, and any duplicated or confusing logic removed. Fix lingering bugs and complete any half-finished features so the simulator works end-to-end.
Scope
- Review the current Java codebase
- Refactor for readability/maintainability (remove duplicates, improve structure)
- Add/fix tests; validate functionality (JUnit or TestNG)
- Implement missing logic where required
Standards & Tools
• Follow standard Java conventions; keep the code clean, readable, and documented.
• Consolidate all source folders into a standard Maven structure (src/main/java, src/test/java).
• Add a minimal [login to view URL] so the project builds with mvn clean test.
• Keep Eclipse compatibility (Maven works in Eclipse via m2e).
• Do not include developer or platform names in comments. Use only neutral notes (e.g., // reviewed) or the project owner’s name/date if required.
• Provide a brief change log (key refactors, new classes, design decisions).
Deliverables
- Refactored codebase that builds cleanly with Maven (mvn clean test).
- Added/updated tests covering each module’s behavior.
- Short change log summarizing the work.
- README with build/run instructions.
Familiarity with build tools like Maven/Gradle and IDEs such as Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA will help you move quickly, but you are free to use any setup as long as the final project remains standard Java and builds cleanly via Maven. If this sounds like a good fit, let’s discuss the repository and milestones so you can dive straight in." (client-provided description)
