"For this project, the focus is on redesigning the Instagram app UI to enhance user experience and resolve a common pain point: cluttered navigation. Current Instagram UI has become increasingly crowded with new features (like Reels, Shopping, and Stories), causing navigation confusion and forcing important notifications and direct messages away from thumb-friendly zones, which leads to difficulty in accessibility for many users.

The main problem identified is navigation complexity and notification accessibility. Many users find it hard to reach notifications or direct messages with one hand, and the proliferation of features like Reels and Shopping has pushed important actions out of intuitive positions.

How the problem will be solved:

Analyze current Instagram layouts, fonts, icons, and page grid.

Identify navigation pain points and thumb-reach issues.

Redesign 5 key pages (Feed, Explore, Notifications, Profile, and Direct Messages) in Adobe XD.

Relocate core navigation elements (notifications, DMs) for one-handed use, streamline menu items, and declutter the interface.

Use consistent iconography and spacing to improve readability and minimize cognitive load.

The resulting prototype will be accompanied by sketches of new layouts and a short paragraph for each, explaining how each redesign solves a specific pain point. The end goal is a more user-friendly, intuitive Instagram experience, validated by the improvements made to screen navigation and overall accessibility" (client-provided description)
