"I have a mature ASP .NET 4.8 WebForms application that I now require to be converted to the modern, cross-platform world of ASP .NET Core. I am the original developer and the current code was written in ASP.Net (VB.Net). I would expect the new code to be C# which is not a problem.

The end goal is a clean, like for like rebuild in ASP .NET Core MVC with Razor Pages — possibly Blazor —while preserving business logic and preserving/improving the user experience. I would be open to a hybrid Razor/Blazor application that leverages the best of both approaches.

All data lives in an existing SQL Server schema that will stay exactly as is, so your code should interact with it directly (both Entity Framework Core and/or Dapper ).

The current system uses Mescius/Component One components, so you should have appropriate developer licences (as I have) to utilise replacement (ie. Core) Mescius/Component One components in the new app.

Since the application is large .... in the short term I am looking to deploy a hybrid solution ASP.Net (4.8) Webforms and Core MVC on the server, I believe this is technically possible.

This will allow sections of the application to be converted, one at a time, to replace and integrate with the existing.

What I will hand over:
• Segmented Packages of the overall solution including webforms, code-behind and SQL Database (scripts)

What I expect back:
• A new Visual Studio solution targeting the latest LTS version of .NET Core
• Razor Pages that mirror each WebForms page’s appearance, functionality and route structure
• Code that generally follows my naming conventions, patterns and understanding

I will integrate and test the new package(s) with the existing app; parity in behaviour and data output is the acceptance benchmark. If this sounds like a challenge you enjoy, let’s get started.
