"I’m working on a new project: a WordPress plugin designed to handle both backup and restoration of websites, including large ones (up to at least 50GB). One of the key features I’d like to implement is an automated backup scheduling system—daily, weekly, or monthly.

I currently have a functioning base that performs fairly well with smaller websites, but it doesn’t yet support scheduling and struggles with larger sites. I believe the right approach might be to move the entire process to the background, making it scalable and efficient even with scheduled tasks.

Would you be interested in collaborating on this project? If you’re available, I’ll send over the current version of the plugin.


1. For now, it should save locally by sequencing the different backup versions. In a later stage, I’d like it to upload the backups to Megafile (a service I’ve already developed).

2. The incremental backup solution is interesting, but in any case, I’d like it to always retain the older backup versions.

3. This might be the real challenge: it must work on any server, even highly restrictive ones like Altervista or other shared hosting providers. I know for sure, though, that with the right combination of keepalive or pauses, it can be resolved—part of what I’ve built already does this. But clearly, it doesn’t handle very large sites well.


the interface is ready and basic functionality exists, the next step will be to make the system fully scalable and reliable. This means:

- Ensuring backups work for any site size (up to 50GB+) by implementing chunked, background processing.
- Making scheduling fully functional and robust, even on restrictive hosting environments.
- Adding error handling and logging for smooth operation.
