"I need a custom Android messaging app that can act as a two-way gateway between the phone and my web platform. The core workflow is straightforward: whenever an SMS comes in or goes out—regardless of which SIM handled it—the app should instantly forward a copy, in JSON, to my REST API. In the opposite direction, the app will poll or listen for new “outbound” messages from that same API and dispatch them through the chosen SIM on the device.

Because the phone may carry two or more SIM cards, the app must detect every active SIM, read its carrier name, phone number and any other identifiers Android exposes, and include that metadata in each payload you post to the server. Internally, I only want the most recent conversation history held on the device; older threads should be cleared automatically to stay in line with the “store only recent messages locally” requirement.

Key deliverables
• Kotlin built.
• Reliable background service or WorkManager job that survives reboots and doze mode
• End-to-end API handshake: send/receive JSON, with error handling and retry logic
• Simple in-app inbox/outbox UI showing recent messages per SIM
• Settings screen for API endpoint, polling interval, SIM selection when sending, and local history limits
• Clean, well-commented code plus a brief README explaining build steps and any required permissions (SEND_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS, READ_PHONE_STATE, etc.)
• Code must be well documented and stored on our provided GitHub repo.

I’ll provide the endpoint specs and test credentials. Once you have a working APK on a dual-SIM device that forwards, fetches, and sends reliably, we’re done.
