Project description:
"Android Developer (AOSP / Set-Top Boxes):
We’re looking for an experienced Android Developer to join our team, focused on building and refining set-top boxes powered by Amlogic and Rockchip SoCs. The work goes deep into the Android Open Source Project (AOSP)—ideal for someone who already spends their days inside AOSP source, moving confidently between Java, Kotlin, and C, while keeping Makefiles, Git branches, and feature flags perfectly aligned.
What You’ll Do:
-Extend and refine core Android components: Activities, Services, Frameworks, permissions handling, and even boot-flow tweaks in Linux / U-Boot when needed.
-Lead development of our custom launcher and UI, improving design consistency across the device experience while introducing new features.
-Maintain and evolve our production SDK, ensuring clean and reliable releases for downstream partners.
-Collaborate on hardware bring-up and testing, contributing regression tests to safeguard both stability and peripheral support.
-Leverage prior experience with Amlogic SDKs (past and current). Familiarity with Rockchip SDKs is a strong plus.
-Apply knowledge of Google TV requirements and design guidelines to ensure compliance and compatibility.
Requirements:
-3+ years of hands-on AOSP development experience.
-Strong skills in Java and Object-Oriented Programming; proficiency in Kotlin preferred.
-Solid C/C++ experience for low-level work.
-Deep understanding of core Android components and system architecture.
-Experience with Android UI / launcher design & development.
-Familiarity with Linux and U-Boot.
-Experience building and maintaining a production SDK.
-Knowledge of set-top box development, specifically with Amlogic (S905 series, etc.) and Rockchip (e.g. RK3588).
-Familiarity with Google TV ecosystem and certification requirements is a strong advantage.
-Proficient in English (reading/writing) with strong written communication for code reviews and design docs.
-Ability to collaborate closely with other developers toward common goals.
-Experience with hardware/software testing and debugging." (client-provided description)
