"I need a fresh set of eyes to locate and resolve a logical error hiding in my Java codebase. The project is a Spring-powered web application that compiles and deploys fine, yet produces incorrect behaviour during specific user flows.

You will:
• trace the misbehaving path, identify the faulty logic, and implement a clean fix in line with current coding style;
• supply a brief summary of what went wrong and why your change resolves it;
• push the corrected code via Git so I can test it on our staging server.

The stack is standard Spring MVC, Java 17, Maven, and MySQL. I’m happy to answer any architecture questions and can provide failing test cases or sample requests that reproduce the issue.
