"I am developing a brand-new mobile app aimed solely at Android and want the first release to focus on secure, hassle-free user authentication.

Scope of this engagement
• Set up a clean Android Studio project (Kotlin preferred, Java acceptable) that follows the latest Material 3 guidelines.
• Implement email-and-password sign-up / sign-in; Google social login is a welcome extra if you can add it quickly.
• Persist the auth state so a user remains logged in across sessions and is routed correctly between onboarding, login, and the main screen.
• Provide well-structured, clearly commented code plus a concise README so I can continue iterating after hand-off.

Acceptance criteria
– Fresh install opens to onboarding, then proceeds to sign-up / log-in flow.
– New account creation, login, logout, and automatic session restore all work without crashes.
– Project compiles in the latest stable Android Studio and produces a signed debug APK.

I already have wireframes, a Firebase project, and the package name reserved; you will receive all credentials once we start. Future milestones may add push notifications and in-app purchases, so clean, modular code is important.
