Project description:
"I have a standalone Windows desktop application that runs flawlessly on traditional x86/x64 machines but refuses to cooperate on newer Windows 11 ARM-based devices such as the Surface Pro X. I need clear, actionable guidance—and any necessary code or packaging changes—to make the app launch and function normally on ARM.
The task may involve examining the current binaries, spotting architecture–specific blockers (native DLLs, installer logic, COM registrations, etc.), and then applying the right solution: recompiling for ARM64 or ARM64EC in Visual Studio 2022, tweaking MSIX/MSI settings, or crafting a lightweight ARM stub that bridges to legacy code under x64 emulation. I can provide full source (C++/MFC plus a few .NET 4.8 assemblies) under NDA, along with remote access to an ARM test machine.
Acceptance criteria
• The application installs and opens on a stock Windows 11 ARM device without crashing.
• All existing features behave the same as on an x64 PC or any unavoidable limitations are clearly documented.
• A concise report details every change—build flags, registry edits, packaging steps—so I can reproduce the fix in future releases.
If you’ve already ported Win32 or .NET apps to ARM64, know your way around vcpkg, and feel comfortable troubleshooting low-level compatibility quirks, tell me how you’d tackle this and how soon you can begin." (client-provided description)
