Project: Development of an Android Mobile Application for Attendance Control via Fingerprint
1. Project Context
Currently, employee attendance is manually controlled, leading to fictitious presences and significant payroll costs. The goal of this project is to develop an Android mobile application, installed on a dedicated phone or tablet for each agency, to record employee attendance via fingerprint twice a day (entry and exit) and enable centralized tracking in real-time or delayed mode.
2. Project Objectives
● Eliminate fictitious employees from the payroll list.
● Provide reliable and automated attendance tracking.
● Reduce fraud through biometric verification.
● Ensure functionality even without an internet connection, with subsequent synchronization.
● Provide a consolidated view of staff attendance across all agencies.
● Generate automatic alerts in case of high or justified absence rates.
3. Target Audience
● Field users: Agency managers
● Administrative users: Payroll management
● Administrators: General Secretariat
4. Application Features
4.1. Attendance Registration and Control
● Identification via fingerprint using the phone's integrated sensor.
● Two daily check-ins: entry and exit.
● Management of schedules and holidays defined by the agency.
● Ability to justify an absence with:
○ The manager's fingerprint in place of the employee.
○ Optional addition of a supporting document (photo, PDF, etc.).
○ Automatic alert sent to the central system for validation or rejection.
4.2. Offline Management and Synchronization
● Application functioning offline.
● Local data storage.
● Automatic synchronization as soon as the phone regains internet connection.
4.3. Geolocation
● GPS position recording during each check-in.
● Functionality even if GPS or network is unavailable (non-blocking geolocation).
4.4. User Interface
● Very simple and intuitive interface (few buttons, smooth navigation).
● Clear messages and icons for users unfamiliar with technology.
4.5. Administrator Dashboard
● Real-time or delayed view of attendance across all agencies.
● Color-coded alert indicators based on absence rates:
○ Green: absences below the tolerated threshold.
○ Yellow: increasing absences.
○ Red: very high absences.
○ Purple: justified absences.
● Ability to filter by region, agency, period, type of absence.
● Consultation and validation of submitted justifications.
4.6. Authorization Management
● Three levels of authorization for attendance management on mobile (Director, Deputy Director, and others to be defined).
● Multiple access levels in the administrator interface (simple viewing, validation, advanced management).
5. Technical Constraints
● Operating system: Android 8.0 and above.
● Development language: Kotlin, Java, or others.
● Database: local (SQLite) + central server (PostgreSQL/MySQL) via secure API.
● Security:
○ Encryption of biometric and personal data.
○ Strong authentication for administrators.
○ Compliance with local data protection regulations.
● External modules: Google Maps API (geolocation), biometric sensor SDK if necessary.
6. Graphic Design and Ergonomics
● Simple and clear design, suitable for all user profiles.
● Large buttons and text for ease of use.
● Colors harmonized with the public company's visual identity.
