"I’m building a story-driven running app for Apple Watch, and I want the next sprint to prove that the watch can turn a normal outdoor run into a real-time “chase and catch” game.
Your assignment is to ship a small but complete watchOS module in Swift that:
• Streams heart-rate data live with HealthKit
• Spawns virtual power-ups on a timer or distance trigger and shows them with clear on-screen visuals (icons, simple animation, or text)
• Lets the runner “catch” a power-up only when they reach the required heart-rate zone; if they miss the window, the item disappears
• Pushes an instant WatchKit haptic when the item appears (optional but helpful), yet the main feedback must be the visual alert, because that is the primary mode I chose
• Keeps the UI responsive and adapts colour or layout as the zones change in real time
I’ll share a full PRD, mock ups, zone logic, and sample assets once we start. Clean, readable Swift, HealthKit, and WatchKit code is a must, and I’ll expect a short README explaining how to run the demo on a real device. If this slice feels fun and performant we’ll widen the scope to audio cues and obstacle items next.
