Project description:
"I run an in-house case-management site that was built in classic ASP about a decade ago. It lives on IIS and talks to a single Access (.mdb) database. Ever since we moved to a newer Windows Server, pages that once opened instantly now stall and randomly hit script-timeout limits.
My top priority is to rewrite and modernise the SQL embedded in the .asp files while keeping the backend in Access. That means examining every query, replacing the worst offenders with streamlined, parameter-driven versions, tightening connection handling, and making sure the revised pages perform reliably under load.
Deliverables
• Audit of all database-touching .asp pages
• Reworked queries and any supporting VBScript changes, fully commented
• Deployment on our staging box followed by production verification—no page should exceed a three-second load time in repeated tests
• Brief hand-over notes outlining what was changed and why
You’ll receive VPN/RDP access to a cloned VM plus the full codebase, and you’re free to use the editor or debugging tools you prefer as long as the final code remains classic ASP compatible with Microsoft Access. If you have a track record of breathing new life into vintage ASP/Access stacks, I’m eager to hear how soon you can start and the outline of your optimisation plan. The full .mdb database is approximately 35Mb." (client-provided description)
