Time to start: As soon as possible
Project description:
"I’m ready to move from concept to working MVP for a B2B food-sector marketplace where traders list what they need and suppliers battle it out by under-bidding one another. The core workflow is a reverse auction, so latency, clarity, and real-time updates matter far more to me than flashy extras.
Scope of the build
The application needs two flexible user archetypes—Trader and Supplier. I don’t want hard-coded permission trees; instead, design roles so we can bolt on or fine-tune capabilities later without migrations or rewrites.
Essential feature set
• Authentication & onboarding for Traders and Suppliers
• Reverse-auction flow: traders create product requests, suppliers submit competitive offers, lowest bid always visible and auto-updates in real time
• Single-page dashboard where each user can monitor their active and past auctions/offers at a glance
• Notification layer (email and in-app) for new bids, status changes, and auction closures
• Cash-based transactions only—no payment gateway yet, but please keep the code payment-provider-agnostic for future Stripe or similar integration
• Fully responsive UI tested on modern mobile and desktop breakpoints
Tech preferences
Frontend: React.js with [login to view URL] (TypeScript welcome).
Backend: Node.js (Express or Fastify).
Database: MongoDB is fine, PostgreSQL equally so—choose the one you can move fastest with while keeping clean data modelling.
Real-time: [login to view URL] or built-in [login to view URL] websockets.
Deliverables
1. Complete source code in a private Git repo with clear commit history
2. Deployed MVP (Vercel / Render / Heroku) ready for live stakeholder demos
3. Basic unit tests for core auction logic and role permissions
4. Setup docs so another dev can run the stack locally in under 10 minutes
Acceptance criteria
• Traders can publish, edit, and close requests; suppliers can submit offers until the deadline hits.
• System automatically highlights the current lowest bid and logs the full bid history.
• Both roles receive immediate notifications on every relevant event.
• UI passes Lighthouse mobile & desktop performance audits ≥90.
• Codebase is lint-clean and typed (if TypeScript used).
I expect an iterative, hourly collaboration hovering around the $30 mark, with clear milestones and demo checkpoints. If you have shipped anything similar—marketplaces, auctions, or real-time dashboards—point me to it in your proposal and let’s get started." (client-provided description)
