The short-video section of my mobile app (live on both iOS and Android) pauses for a second or two every time a user swipes to the next reel. Everything else in the app flows smoothly, so I’m convinced the issue sits in the way we fetch, buffer, or render the reels feed itself.

Here’s what I need from you:

• Identify the root cause of the lag that appears only while scrolling between reels.
• Optimise or refactor the code so the transition feels instant and stays under typical UX thresholds (no perceptible stutter on either platform).
• Provide a brief summary of the changes plus any settings, packages, or performance flags you adjusted so future updates don’t re-introduce the delay.

You’ll have full access to the current repository and can run builds for both iOS and Android locally or through TestFlight / internal track as you prefer.
