"I’m kicking off the first release of a cloud-based project-accounting platform aimed at helping small businesses stay on top of budgets, contracts, and day-to-day financial workflows. For this MVP I need an experienced full-stack developer who can shape the entire stack—database schema, backend services, and a browser-based frontend—while keeping scalability and clean architecture front of mind.

Core scope
• Secure authentication must support fully customizable roles so I can create and adjust permission sets beyond the typical Admin/Manager/Employee structure.
• Primary access will be through web browsers; the UI should therefore be a responsive SPA that feels snappy on desktop and tablet.
• Modules required in the first build:
 – Project and contract management
 – Timesheets tied directly to project codes
 – Purchase-order tracking with status updates
 – Lightweight chart-of-accounts plus journal logic to record basic transactions
 – Budgeting and forecasting dashboards that surface Budget Variance reports and forward-looking Financial Forecasts

Deliverables (MVP)
1. ERD and migration scripts for a relational database that supports all modules above.
2. REST or GraphQL API with clean, versioned endpoints, unit tests, and clear documentation.
3. Web frontend (React, Vue, or similar) wired to the API, including responsive layouts, state management, and form validation.
4. Role-based auth layer (JWT or comparable) with secure password handling and refresh flows.
5. Deployment pipeline scripts or configs suitable for a modern cloud provider (Docker/Kubernetes or serverless, your call) so I can spin up staging and production quickly.
6. README that lets another engineer run the stack locally in under 10 minutes.

Acceptance criteria
• All listed modules functional end-to-end with no critical bugs.
• Custom roles can be added, edited, and assigned without code changes.
• Budget variance and forecast widgets load in <2 s on a 5 Mbps connection.
• 80%+ unit-test coverage for backend logic; lint-clean codebase.
• CI pipeline builds and deploys automatically to staging on each push.
