Project description:
"I’m building a Windows desktop app that lets a user point a camera or feed pages through a scanner, instantly turns the captured image into editable text, and then highlights the most important sentences or phrases on-screen. The flow should feel as simple as “Scan → See highlighted text”.
Platform
• Native to Windows only for this first release.
• I’m open to WPF, WinForms, Electron, or another framework you’re comfortable with, provided the final installer runs on current Windows 10/11 machines without extra setup.
Core requirements
• Accepts only scanned or live-camera input; no file uploads or manual typing.
• Runs reliable OCR (Tesseract, [login to view URL], or a library you recommend).
• Automatically highlights key content. A rule-based approach (keywords, frequency, sentence length) is fine to start, but please structure the code so a smarter model can be swapped in later.
• Lets users tweak highlight colour, threshold, and quickly copy the marked-up text to the clipboard.
• Straightforward UI—no clutter, just a preview pane and basic controls.
Deliverables
- Compiled Windows installer or portable EXE
- Full source code with clear build instructions
- Brief README covering dependencies, how to add new highlight rules, and how to swap the OCR engine
I’ll test by scanning a set of printed pages; if the app recognises the text with reasonable accuracy and clearly marks the intended keywords, the milestone is met. Looking forward to working together." (client-provided description)
