"I need a clean, responsive Point-of-Sale application that runs smoothly on Windows machines and adapts just as well to touch-enabled tablets as to standard desktops. Core workflow starts at the sales counter: barcode scan, auto-populate item details, quick quantity adjustments, instant tax & discount calculations, then one-click invoice generation (print or PDF).

Inventory control is the heartbeat of the project. At minimum the build must track stock in/out in real time and instantly adjust quantities when sales or purchase receipts are posted. Low-stock alerts would be nice to have later, so keep the architecture open for that toggle.

The database must be local or network-hosted, but in either case secure, with a scheduled and on-demand backup option I can trigger from the UI—no diving into command lines.

User management breaks down into three roles—Admin, Staff and Cashier—yet only Admin needs privileged access to configuration, high-level reports and user creation; Staff and Cashier share day-to-day sales and returns functionality. A simple role-based permission table is fine as long as it’s easy for me to tweak.

Daily and monthly sales summaries, product-wise and user-wise analytics, plus expense logging for quick profit snapshots should be available in dashboard form and exportable to CSV. I also need straightforward forms for adding customers and suppliers, again with the same barcode scanner ready to pick up loyalty cards or supplier codes.
