"The objective of this project is to develop a secure, offline-capable, single-page application (SPA) that enables users to upload audio files for transcription and convert real-time speech to text. The transcription will be processed entirely offline using open-source/local speech-to-text (STT) models.
The app is currently used by lawyers to record their notes which get sent to a human to be transcribed. This new feature should be an automated voice to text feature.
It has to be integrated into an existing android/IoS app which is currently being used by our clients. This is an additional feature that also will be subscription based where existing customers pay to use this new feature. You will be given access to the existing source code of the app (which will need to be upgraded due to package deprecates) and you will be given access to the database.
To ensure complete autonomy, data privacy, and enhanced security, the system should be designed with an offline first approach. This includes eliminating reliance on cloud-based services and databases, thereby minimizing external dependencies and exposure risks.
Offline Functionality and Dependency Management:
• Offline-only transcription: Transcription processing to be fully self-contained with no reliance on external APIs or cloud inference engines (e.g., Google, Azure, OpenAI).
• No database: Metadata and transcriptions will be temporarily stored in memory or as files.
Security and Privacy Considerations:
• Security-first approach: Sensitive data handling with zero internet dependency.
