Project description:
"To develop an Android application that allows users to input purchase inventory using voice, print slips via any Bluetooth printer, and operate hands-free using any Bluetooth microphone. The system must work offline, store data locally on the phone, and enable sharing of slips to suppliers.
Compatible Hardware:
• Android Phone: Any smartphone with Android 8.0 or higher
• Bluetooth Microphone: Any Bluetooth microphone compatible with Android audio input
• Bluetooth Thermal Printer: Any 58mm Bluetooth thermal printer supporting ESC/POS commands
No Raspberry Pi, no external buttons, and no cloud server required.
Core Features and Functional Requirements:
1. App Lifecycle and Startup
• Automatically launch on phone boot (BOOT_COMPLETED)
• Request and handle required permissions:
• BLUETOOTH, BLUETOOTH_ADMIN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN
• RECORD_AUDIO, INTERNET
• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (for Android 12+)
• Programmatically turn on Bluetooth if disabled
2. Bluetooth Handling
• Auto-pair and connect to any Bluetooth microphone on app launch
• On “Print” action:
• Disconnect the microphone
• Connect to any paired Bluetooth printer (SPP or BLE-GATT supported)
• Send formatted ESC/POS print job
• Disconnect printer after printing
• Reconnect microphone automatically
• Handle connection errors with retry options (e.g., “Retry Print”, “Reconnect Mic”)
3. Voice Input and List Management
• Use Android’s native SpeechRecognizer API or Google Speech-to-Text
• Parse spoken input into:
• Material Name
• Quantity
• Make
• Supplier Name
• Real-time display of captured items in a scrollable list
• Provide edit, delete, and clear-all options before printing
4. Optional: AI Text Correction
• Toggle for AI-based text enhancement
• When enabled:
• Send voice-transcribed text to OpenAI API for refinement
• Show suggested corrections before finalizing
• Notify user that internet and AI subscription charges are applicable
• Fall back to offline speech recognition if internet is unavailable
5. Data Storage and History
• Use SQLite or Room for offline storage
• Keep records for up to 1 year
• Provide a “History” screen to filter and view past records by date
• Export data in CSV or JSON format for backup or reporting
6. Printing Workflow
• On-screen “Print” button:
• Initiates Bluetooth switching (mic to printer)
• Sends formatted print slip
• Shows printing status (“Printing…”, “Printed Successfully”, “Failed to Print”)
• Supports retry on failure
• Slips must include:
• Material name, quantity, make, supplier name
• Timestamp and unique session ID
• Option to include company/shop name in header
7. Supplier Slip Sharing
• After printing, provide an option to share the slip (PDF/image/text) to the supplier via:
• WhatsApp
• Email
• SMS
• Any other installed messaging/sharing app
8. Error Handling & Logs
• Handle Bluetooth failures (pairing issues, timeouts, disconnections)
• Handle speech recognition errors (“Could not recognize speech. Try again.”)
• Handle printer errors (e.g., no paper, low battery)
• Maintain an exportable internal error log for troubleshooting
Non-Functional Requirements:
• Microphone connection time: under 2 seconds
• Print job duration: under 3 seconds for 10-line slips
• Bluetooth stability: minimum 95% connection uptime
• Crash-free rate: better than 99.9%
• Max 2 taps to perform record and print
• Security: No cloud dependency (unless AI feature is enabled), secure local data
• Architecture: MVVM or Clean Architecture preferred
• Code should be modular and maintainable
• App must support both Bluetooth Classic and BLE protocols
Deliverables:
• Fully functional Android APK
• Complete source code (Android Studio project)
• Developer documentation with code comments
• User manual or quick-start guide
• Sample print format for testing
• Instructions for pairing mic and printer" (client-provided description)
