"I have an existing Python project with a function that already works locally; it simply isn’t wired to a database yet. Your task is to hook that code up to a MySQL database, pull in text records, and trigger the function once each time new data appears.

Here’s what I need you to do:
• Add clean, well-commented connection logic using a mainstream library such as mysql-connector-python, PyMySQL, or SQLAlchemy.
• Write the query that fetches the text fields I specify.
• Implement a lightweight “new-data” check (for example, comparing IDs or timestamps) so the function runs only once per fresh record—not continuously.
• Return or log the function’s output as agreed and make sure the connection closes gracefully.

I’ll provide:
– Access credentials to the MySQL instance.
– The current Python script with the target function.

Deliverables:
1. Updated Python file(s) fully integrated with MySQL.
2. A short README explaining any environment variables, setup steps, and how the new-data detection works.
