"I have a small Windows-based entertainment application that shuts down unexpectedly and refuses to open again until the entire system is restarted. I need a reliable fix that allows the program to close and relaunch cleanly every time.

You will receive the current executable along with its source code and any supporting assets. Your task is to:

• Diagnose the root cause of the failed relaunch—whether it is a lingering process, locked file, registry entry, or another Windows-specific issue.
• Implement and document a solution in the existing codebase so the app can be closed, reopened, and even crash-recovered without manual intervention.
• Provide a rebuilt, fully functional executable plus updated source with clear comments highlighting the changes.
• Offer a brief hand-off note summarising what was fixed and how a future developer can maintain it.

The project is strictly for desktop entertainment use, so there are no back-end services or licensing servers involved—everything happens locally on Windows. Please work in whatever IDE or language the original code uses (I’ll confirm the stack with you once we start) and keep external dependencies to a minimum.
