"I want to modify an existing open-source application. Need to add back a feature that existed in previous versions, without disturbing the current functionality.

Specifically, I'm referring to Open Shell and Windows 11 (available on github as Open-Shell). The modification involves placing the Open Shell start button to the far left on the taskbar, while the other menu items, including current Windows start button, remain in the center or on the right. If the Windows taskbar items are placed on the left, an option -might- be to disable this feature altogether OR place the Open Shell start button immediately to the left of the Windows start button.

One other possibility: Instead of the foregoing, place the Open Shell start button immediately to the left of the original Windows start button for ALL valid positions of the Windows taskbar menu items.

You will be working directly in the public repo, branching off the latest commit, and coding in modern C++ (C++17 or later). If the project already uses a GUI toolkit such as Qt, wxWidgets, or Dear ImGui, follow that convention; if not, propose a lightweight alternative that keeps the build footprint small and cross-platform.

Deliverables
• A pull request with well-commented source code, compiling without warnings on Windows and Linux
• Updated CMake (or existing build script) reflecting any new dependencies
• Screenshots or a short screen capture demonstrating the new menu flow and rearrangeable layout
• A brief markdown note with summary of the changes and how to toggle the new UI features in release builds

Acceptance criteria
• No regressions in current functionality (existing unit tests still pass)
• Menus load in <150 ms on first invocation and behave identically on the two main supported platforms
• Layout elements can be dragged, docked, and saved/restored between sessions
