"I’m looking for an experienced AS400 / IBM i software engineer who can keep our insurance platform running smoothly. The immediate focus is system maintenance that zeroes in on three critical areas: bug fixing, performance optimization, and proactive health checks across our core modules—Claims Processing, Policy Management, and the User Interface.

Here’s what I need:
• Diagnose and resolve production bugs in the Claims, Policy, and UI programs.
• Profile jobs, tune queries, and adjust configurations to improve throughput and response times.
• Implement preventative maintenance routines so we catch issues before they affect end users.
• Document fixes, performance gains, and any code or configuration changes directly in our existing change-management system.

Our tech stack is classic RPG, CL, and DB2 on IBM i, with a sprinkling of SQL and embedded C where needed, so you should be comfortable diving into legacy code as well as more modern extensions.

I’ll provide VPN access, source control credentials, and a staging LPAR for testing. Success is a stable nightly run with zero critical errors and measurable performance improvements (we log every batch duration and interactive response time).
