Budget: Recommended by industry experts
Time to start: As soon as possible
Project description:
"We run the FUPRE Journal of Petroscience. Public marketing site is on Vercel ([login to view URL]) + Supabase. We now need a full OJS submission/review/publishing workflow installed on a VPS—and we must ensure discoverability in Google Scholar and similar indexes.
Scope:
OJS Setup
- Install/harden OJS (Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, MariaDB/Postgres, Let’s Encrypt SSL, SMTP)
- Configure roles (Admin/Editor/Reviewer/Author), sections, workflows, email templates, file storage, and backups.
- Theme/brand to match our site (logo, colors, typography; responsive).
Integration with Existing Site
- Link “Submit Manuscript” from our Vercel site → OJS journal.
- Surface latest issues/articles on our site via OJS RSS/JSON.
Indexing & Discoverability (Priority)
- Google Scholar readiness: Enable/verify OJS’s OAI-PMH endpoint, set base URL, and confirm metadata exposure.
- Configure article/issue pages to produce scholar-friendly HTML (title, authors, abstract, PDF links, publication date).
- Ensure public, crawlable PDFs (no auth walls), stable URLs, and correct [login to view URL]
- Generate and submit sitemaps; verify crawl in Search Console.
DOI/Metadata pipelines:
- Set up Crossref DOIs (via Crossref plugin) or advise on membership; deposit article metadata & references.
- Add [login to view URL] metadata (JSON-LD) where feasible; ORCID collection for authors/reviewers.
Other indexes (nice-to-have):
- Prepare for DOAJ application (policies, editorial board, ethics pages).
- Enable PKP PN/LOCKSS preservation if suitable.
- OpenAIRE / repository compatibility guidance.
Documentation & Handover
- Admin guide (submissions, editorial workflow, publishing).
- Server runbook (backups, upgrades, security patches).
- Indexing checklist: how to publish so new issues get discovered automatically.
Deliverables
- Live OJS journal with end-to-end submission → review → publish workflow.
- Branding applied.
- Indexing deliverables:
-- Working OAI-PMH endpoint validated.
-- Scholar-friendly article pages & PDF access verified.
-- Sitemap(s) generated + submitted.
-- Crossref DOI plugin configured and a test DOI deposit completed.
-- Brief report showing what’s live and how new content will be indexed.
Timeline 1–2 weeks
Please include in your proposal
- 2–3 OJS installs you’ve done (links) + any Google Scholar indexing examples.
- Your recommended approach with pros/cons and timeline.
- Stack choice & hardening plan (web server, DB, SSL, backup, updates).
- Indexing plan: OAI-PMH validation, Scholar checklist, Crossref setup, sitemap/robots, preservation.
- Post-launch support terms (e.g., 30–60 days).
Nice-to-Have:
- SSO with our [login to view URL] site; Paystack/Flutterwave for APCs; migration of any legacy articles from the current system." (client-provided description)
