"I’m building a self-hosted solution that does far more than count page views: it has to recognise who or what is arriving, understand what each visitor does in real time, and let me route traffic or fire actions accordingly—all from an easy-to-tune dashboard.

The core is PHP 7.4+ written in clean OOP style (no framework) and a lightweight ES6 front-end with vanilla JavaScript. You’ll design the MySQL schema, implement advanced User-Agent parsing, inspect raw HTTP headers, add browser-fingerprinting, and enrich every hit with IP geolocation.
While the data gets collected you’ll stream a live feed of page views and navigation paths, storing them for later drill-down and visualising key stats in the admin panel. Inside that panel I need to create, edit and prioritise custom rules so different visitor types can be routed to distinct URLs or served alternative content. Every decision and request should be logged for auditing.

A sound grasp of the HTTP protocol and server configuration is essential because part of the job is making sure the detection layer sits efficiently between the web server and the application without adding noticeable latency.
