Project description:
"I’m building a dark, fast-paced title that blends souls-style melee combat, roguelike progression, and classic dungeon-crawler exploration. All art, models, animations, VFX, and audio are on my desk; what I need is a Unity programmer who can turn the design doc into a playable, expandable experience.
Your role
• Structure core gameplay loops in C#: tight, skill-based combat, hit-stop, i-frames, parries, and stagger states.
• Build adaptive enemy AI with attack patterns, pathfinding, and state machines.
• Handle level management: procedural room layouts, seed-based runs, checkpoints, and save data.
• Keep it smooth on mid-range hardware through pooling, occlusion, and smart batching.
Workflow
I already have grey-box scenes, animation clips, and blend trees ready to drop in. You’ll start by wiring up a functional prototype we can iterate on, then expand features in short sprints using Git. Regular playtests and quick feedback cycles are essential.
Tech stack
Unity 2021 LTS (URP), C#, ScriptableObjects for data-driven design, GitHub repository with issues and milestones, and Plastic SCM for large binary pushes if needed.
Ideal match
You’ve shipped or prototyped action combat in Unity, write clean, commented code, and enjoy collaborating closely with an artist. If you can suggest creative solutions when design meets technical limits—perfect.
Deliverables
1. Playable prototype with one dungeon floor, two enemy types, and full combat loop.
2. Modular systems (combat, AI, level generation) documented for future expansion.
3. Performance pass keeping frame times under 16 ms on a GTX 1060.
If you’re excited to spar with tough gameplay challenges and see your code come alive with fresh art every week, let’s talk." (client-provided description)
