"Custom Shopify App – WordPress Blog Proxy Integration
Objective

We want to build a private Shopify app that replicates the functionality of Post Bridge ([login to view URL]
).
The app should proxy our existing WordPress blog (e.g., [login to view URL]) into a Shopify subfolder (e.g., [login to view URL]), so that our blog content appears under the main Shopify domain for SEO purposes.
We want a simple, one-time build with full ownership and no recurring fees.

Requirements

Proxy Functionality

Proxy WordPress blog pages into Shopify under /blog/ without redirecting visitors.

Example: [login to view URL] → displays content from [login to view URL]

Preserve canonical tags, meta data, and SEO attributes.

Maintain pagination, categories, images, and links.

Support both desktop and mobile responsiveness.

Admin Settings (Optional)

A lightweight settings page in Shopify Admin:

Field to input the WordPress blog URL.

Option to choose between:

“Proxy full WordPress website”

“Display posts within Shopify theme”

Option to enable/disable caching.

SEO and Sitemap

Posts must appear under Shopify’s domain (not the subdomain).

Maintain sitemap compatibility so Google indexes /blog/* pages correctly.

Keep existing WordPress permalink structure and sitemap links intact.

Technical Approach

Developed in Node.js or [login to view URL] using Shopify’s App Proxy.

Hosted on our server (e.g., CLDY, AWS Lightsail, or any equivalent).

Should function independently of theme updates.

Lightweight, clean, and easy to maintain — no dependency on external APIs or paid services.

Deliverables

Source code and setup instructions (GitHub repo or ZIP).

Setup guide for installation, DNS configuration, and maintenance.

Fully tested and functional with our WordPress blog.

Expected Outcome

/blog on our Shopify site displays the WordPress blog content.

SEO credit and indexing are consolidated under Shopify’s domain.

The setup remains stable during future theme or DNS changes.

Use Post Bridge by Cove Commerce as the feature benchmark, but this will be a private, in-house version with full ownership.
