"I’m building a card game in Unity. The tabletop layer stays 2D for the hand and deck UI, but every card you play must instantiate its own 3D character or land onto an octagon-shaped grid.

For this first milestone I only need the core game loop and supporting systems, not the final polish:

• Scenes - There are 3 scenes. I only need the scenes to load the next scene for now. There is login, lobby, and Deplen which is first level. Right now it will move to lobby from login when accept is pushed but once in lobby, it will not go into Deplen once single mode is pressed. I think it has something to do with the dont destroyonload. So just fix this problem so the scenes move nicely then start the prototyping for Deplen.
• Card system – draw cards, play cards, discard cards and a visible hand that supports drag-to-play.
• Turn manager – alternating player turns with clear UI cues.
• Octagonal grid – prefab-based with script to randomize grid board, able to accept spawned characters and track their cell positions. The grid consists of border pieces, octagons, and middle pieces that go in-between octagons to fill in their 45 degree angles. So for the grid, if you turn the flat side upwards. You have a flat side on top, on bottom, on the left and on the right. This should make the octagon tile able. That's why there are filler pieces. There should be a flag on 45 degrees that allow connection to middle filler pieces. The starting board only needs 40 grids. 20 for one player and 20 for second player. All other grids get added on by land cards during gameplay.
• Character tokens – lightweight 3D placeholders (capsule, chibi, anything) that carry hit points and can move one cell per action. (Or you can use free assets from the store and out a placeholder character in)
• Basic rules – on a turn the player can draw a card, play a card, and move one character, with health updating in the HUD.
• Camera – During gameplay a player should be able to zoom in and out and pan around the board.
• Land Cards – During gameplay a player should be able to use a land card and it generate more lands onto the board and the player add it to where they want. Land cards could add 5, 10, lands its still a working progress.

So based off land cards and grid system we will need to figure out a system/algorithm that works for both the starting grid board and the additional grid based off land cards that allows player to add land to grid.

I need someone who knows unity, maya, and clip studio paint. I have a card template with .clip file that you can use to take the layers and make the ui. I use maya so converting or transferring models into unity it would be nice to have someone who already understands the workflow.

Keep the code clean, commented, and driven by ScriptableObjects where sensible so I can expand the deck later. Once you hand over the Unity project I’ll test it on Windows; if all actions trigger correctly and the grid logic is solid, we’re good to go for the next phase. Please read before bidding.
