Project description:
"I need a mobile application that runs on both iOS and Android and acts as a personal vault for every file that lands on a user’s phone. The moment a document, video, or picture appears in a device’s local storage—whether it comes from WhatsApp, the camera, email, AirDrop, or any other source—the app should detect it in the background and push an encrypted copy to the cloud.
Access is locked behind two layers I specify: the user’s fingerprint (Touch ID / Android biometric) and a personal pass-code. Should a phone be stolen, lost, or even destroyed, the owner simply installs the app on a new handset, registers the same fingerprint, enters the code, and sees their entire vault re-appear within seconds.
Because the core promise is “your files survive anything,” I expect end-to-end encryption (AES-256 or better), secure key management, and strong transport-layer protection. Feel free to recommend best-practice stacks—AWS KMS, Google Cloud Storage, Firebase, custom Golang or Node.js APIs—provided the result is rock-solid and GDPR-friendly.
Deliverables
• Universal iOS & Android app (native Swift/Kotlin or a cross-platform framework such as Flutter / React Native)
• Cloud back-end with encrypted object storage and user authentication services
• Automatic background file crawler for documents, videos, and pictures
• Fingerprint + pass-code login flow with secure reset / recovery logic
• Tested restore process that works on a freshly purchased phone
• Complete source code, build instructions, and short video walkthrough showing backup & restore in action
Acceptance criteria
• The first time a file is added to the device, it appears in the cloud vault within 30 seconds over Wi-Fi and within 2 minutes over cellular data.
• All files remain encrypted at rest and in transit; attempting to access raw storage should yield unreadable data without credentials.
• Restoring on a new phone reproduces every backed-up file, including original folder names and timestamps.
• All features function on the latest two major versions of iOS and Android.
If the scope is clear, let’s move forward so users can stop worrying about losing their memories and important paperwork." (client-provided description)
