"I need an experienced C++ developer who is comfortable working directly on an Ubuntu-based edge device that drives a laser profile scanner. The objective is to adjust the program’s behaviour in three key areas:

• Data processing – update the existing logic so the scanner’s raw output is handled more intelligently and consistently reflects real-world profiles.
• Error handling – tighten the way exceptions and device faults are detected, logged, and recovered from, keeping the scanner online without manual intervention.
• User-interface interaction – refine the on-device UI elements so operators immediately see useful feedback and can trigger re-scans or diagnostics with minimal clicks.

The core codebase is already stable, but these functional changes are necessary before I roll the device out to the next batch of installations. You will be given SSH access to a test unit plus the current build instructions. I expect clean, well-commented commits that compile on the target hardware, along with a short change-log outlining what was modified and why.
