Purpose This task emphasizes knowledge translation and
community engagement. The purpose of this assessment
is to enable students to critically apply theories of
language development (ULO 1) by translating academic
knowledge into accessible, practical information for
families. By creating a website that highlights the
developmental progressions and importance of speaking
and listening, students demonstrate their ability to:
• Communicate key concepts in early language
acquisition in an inclusive strengths-based way
• Promote culturally and linguistically responsive
pedagogies that support children for whom English
is an additional language (ULO 3)
• Articulate the significance of adult:child interactions

Description Students will analyse Unit literature to create a website
designed for families, that summarises the key domains
and components of speaking and listening, developmental
progressions, and the importance for children’s social
interactions, learning and thinking. The characteristics of
effective home-learning environments that promote
language development and communication should be
outlined.

website must be provided.
