Location: Lake Point, United States
Budget: Recommended by industry experts
Time to start: As soon as possible
Project description:
"The goal is a self-contained digital game that allows focused drills on certain past tense verb conjugation.
An English phrase or sentence in the past tense is presented to the player. Generally using the verb "was" or "were".
Spanish translations are presented with the translated verb missing, just a blank underlined space is shown in the place of the verb. At least in the first iteration of this game.
A hint button would be available. When clicked a recording would explain one of the grammar rules for this particular phrase.
The player would click on one of up to 24 possible verb choices. (6 each Ser, Estar in Preterite and Imperfect)
The game would either indicate a correct selection or incorrect using a tone and visual indication.
If incorrect, a recording would play explaining the grammar reason for the error or a partial reason.
The player would continue to select possible answers until getting it correct.
Then a new phrase would be presented. The phrases will be in a pseudo random order each time the game is played.
Correct
Incorrect
And guesses will bet tallied and a running score is presented in real time.
A log file of the game play would be retained and made available to the player.
The bank of test phrases and answers should be pulled from a spreadsheet or database that the player or administrator will create.
The audio recordings likewise are things that the user or administrator should be able to create.
• The finished product should run smoothly in a browser or as a lightweight cross-platform app. Initially a PC app. Perhaps an online version too.
Deliverables
1. Brief game design document outlining mechanics.
2. Playable prototype that showcases at least one complete learning loop (e.g., intro tutorial → gameplay → feedback → progress save).
3. Source code and asset files, clearly organized and commented so a future team can expand on them.
4. Short explainer video or walkthrough gif that demonstrates the prototype in action.
I’ll be available for quick feedback on each milestone; rapid iteration is welcome." (client-provided description)
