"My e-commerce site [login to view URL] is built on PHP Laravel and right now the Buy Now and Add to Cart features are only half-working: clicking the buttons looks fine, yet the item never reaches the cart. No obvious error message appears; some parts of the flow respond, but the core “add item” step fails.

I need you to trace and eliminate the bug—whether it lives in the controller logic, session handling, AJAX call, or blade view—and make sure the cart behaves exactly as intended for all product types and user states (guest, logged-in, mobile, desktop).

Deliverables (acceptance criteria):
• An updated codebase where any product can be successfully added to the cart and immediately reflected in cart totals.
• The Buy Now action must route straight to checkout with the chosen item pre-loaded.
• A brief summary of the root cause and the changes made (file names, line numbers, and reason).
• Confirmation that fixes persist after cache clear and across at least two browsers.
