"I’m building a desktop-focused web application that lets HGV drivers carry out their daily walk-around checks, record any defects they find, and trigger an immediate email notification to the fleet manager. The driver will enter only two pieces of information when something is wrong: the Vehicle ID and a short defect description. From there, the manager needs a secure dashboard where each report appears in real time, can be assigned a repair status, and ultimately marked as resolved once the work is complete.

Key deliverables
• Responsive desktop UI for drivers to submit Vehicle ID + defect description
• Manager dashboard with login, defect list, status workflow (open, in progress, fixed) and basic search/filter
• Automatic email notification containing the submitted details and a link back to the defect entry
• Relational database schema and simple admin seed script
• Clean, well-commented source code plus a short README for setup

Acceptance will be based on:
1. A driver can lodge a defect in under 30 seconds on a standard browser.
2. The manager receives a formatted email instantly and sees the same record in the dashboard without refreshing.
3. Status updates persist and are reflected to both driver and manager views.

Tech stack is flexible—feel free to propose your preferred framework (React, Vue, Laravel, Django, etc.) as long as the final solution is straightforward to deploy on a typical Linux VPS." (client-provided description)
