"I need a fully working bidirectional interface that lets my XL-200 analyzer talk to our Laboratory Information System over the ASTM E1394 protocol. The link must flow both ways: the LIS should push patient demographics to the instrument before a run begins, and the XL-200 must return completed test results that the LIS can store, flag and release without manual re-entry. Only patient records and analytical test results travel across this interface—no billing or other data.

What I expect from you is an interface module (middleware, driver, or custom script—whichever suits the environment) that:
• speaks native ASTM E1394 with the XL-200,
• hands data to and from the LIS through the format or API we expose (HL7, TCP/IP socket, serial, etc.),
• includes field-level mapping and acknowledgment handling so no results are lost or duplicated,
• ships with a short validation plan and test log showing that at least 20 sample orders cycle through without error.

If you have worked with other chemistry or hematology instruments, that background will help, but please make sure the final deliverable is specific to the XL-200 command set. I can provide the current instrument manual, sample order/result files, and remote access to a test LIS database for bench testing. Once the interface passes onsite verification, I’ll sign off."
